Executive and Financial Communications Associate Director

Summary:

The Executive and Financial Communications Associate Director is responsible for developing and executing communication plans to effectively convey the company’s financial performance, executive leadership messaging, corporate strategy, and other key business updates. This role requires extensive collaboration across the executive leadership team, investor relations, and corporate communications to develop and align messaging for both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads internal and external support for CFO organization, including developing and implementing executive and financial communication strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Draft key messaging, scripts, speeches, and presentations for executives, focusing on financial and business performance.
  • Source external media and thought leadership opportunities (op-eds, speaking engagements, industry panels, etc.) to promote Huntington’s financial and business performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Investor Relations team to ensure accurate, clear, and timely communication for quarterly earnings calls, annual reports, investor presentations, and regulatory filings.
  • Lead the development of FAQs, fact sheets, and briefing documents to prepare executives for external media and speaking opportunities.
  • Provide media training and as-needed communication support.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key members of the media, including financial journalists, influencers and other industry experts.
  • Develop strong partnership with Director of Corporate Reputation & Response to align communications efforts during crisis situations or business disruptions that impact financial performance, ensuring accurate and timely messaging.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance) to ensure messaging aligns with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and other senior executives, providing counsel on financial communication strategies and tactics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8-10 Years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Finance, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or financial communications.
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting, investor relations, and regulatory disclosure requirements.
  • Strong business acumen, including working knowledge across banking and financial services.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills with a proven ability to simplify complex financial information.
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company or with financial communications in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong media relations experience, particularly in financial and business media.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in communications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior executives and across functional teams.
  • High level of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive information.
