Summary:
Huntington Bank’s Corporate Communications team is seeking a Specialist to help identify and respond to issues that may pose reputation risk to the company. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Reputation and Response, this new role will proactively look across social and traditional media online to rapidly research, analyze and report on key developments impacting the company and industry.
This fast-paced role will monitor and report on a wide range of issues and provide counsel to leadership to help inform company response, in partnership with media relations, regional communications, social media, customer support, and other teams across the bank.
The successful candidate is experienced in social media management and enjoys conducting online research to help solve problems. Knowledge of the banking industry and media landscape is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using traditional media, social media and other online channels, monitor and provide real-time reporting on issues impacting the company and industry.
- Conduct online research and analysis to help inform the company’s response to issues.
- Proactively identify and escalate potential issues on the horizon that could pose reputation risk and help develop response plans.
- Develop strong partnerships with media relations, regional communications, social media, customer support and other teams across the bank to align messaging around key issues and topics.
- Monitor and analyze daily media coverage and social media activity—including industry trends and brand mentions—and escalate as appropriate.
- Establish KPIs for reputation management and produce regular reports to demonstrate impact, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Understand key information and business priorities including industry trends and issues as well as Huntington’s business strategy, financial position, products/services, customers, and competitors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4 years of related experience, including social media management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience monitoring, analyzing and reporting on developments on social media and other online channels.
- Proficiency using social listening and analytics tools (e.g. Sprinklr), familiarity with advanced and/or AI-driven monitoring capabilities a plus.
- Crisis management experience, and the ability to remain calm while working through crisis situations.
- Experience working with media monitoring platforms (e.g. Cision, Meltwater).
- Strong writer with the ability to communicate with variety of stakeholders, including company leadership.
- Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative team member who can build strong partnerships across the organization.
- Able to prioritize information, working timely in a fast-paced news cycle.
