Strategic FinTech Partnerships Director

Description

The Director of Partnerships within Huntington Ventures will play a critical role in identifying, structuring, and scaling strategic partnerships that accelerate Huntington’s growth agenda. This leader will work at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and execution—sourcing fintech and non-bank partners, shaping partnership structures, and collaborating with business lines and enterprise leaders to bring high-impact partnerships from concept to value realization. The role requires a combination of strategic judgment, commercial acumen, and the ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the fintech ecosystem across digital assets, AI, quantum computing, lending, embedded finance, banking-as-a-service, payments, and form a clear, actionable point of view on where partnership opportunities can create strategic and financial value for the bank.
  • Assess emerging technologies within fintech, including but not limited to AI, cloud-native banking platforms, digital assets, and data analytics, and identify their direct economic applications to banking products, and client experiences.
  • Actively engage the fintech, venture capital, and banking ecosystems to identify new partnership opportunities and qualified leads, including sourcing through venture funds, accelerators, founders, industry events, and direct outreach.
  • Partner closely with internal business units to understand their strategic priorities, pain points, and growth objectives, and identify where fintech partnerships can address those needs more effectively than internal build options.
  • Develop comprehensive commercial and financial models to evaluate partnership economics, including revenue upside, cost savings, investment requirements, and risk considerations, and translate these into robust internal business cases.
  • Lead partnership evaluation and execution, including structuring commercial terms, coordinating internal approvals, and supporting negotiations in collaboration with legal, risk, compliance, and procurement teams.
  • Support ongoing partnership governance, performance tracking, and optimization to ensure partnerships deliver against strategic and financial objectives.
