Summary:

Huntington Bank Capital Markets Managing Director, Financial Sponsor Group will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with private equity sponsors to originate and manage opportunities for financing, M&A, and other corporate and investment banking products.  In addition, the Managing Director will coordinate closely with other areas such as Fund Finance and Huntington Bank's subsidiary, Capstone Partners, to provide solutions to these clients. This senior role is designed for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of capital markets who thrives on building enduring relationships with influential sponsors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a robust sponsor coverage strategy that aligns with the firm's capital markets objectives.
  • Translate market insights into actionable plans to enhance sponsor engagement and drive business growth.
  • Develop underwriting analysis on each fund’s strategy, leadership, and track record to support Credit approval processes
  • Deliver ideas and coordinates content in partnership with product areas including Industry Verticals, Syndicated & Leveraged Finance, Debt & Equity Capital Markets, Fund Finance, and Capstone. 
  • Demonstrate expertise around capital structure, transaction management and strategic thinking
  • Mentor, train, and develop- junior talent.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent work experience in capital markets or investment banking.
  • 12+ years of sponsor finance, structured finance, and leveraged finance.
  • FINRA Series 79 & 63.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, financial instruments, and industry trends.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.  
  • Proven ability to drive business development and execute complex financial transactions. 
  • Proficiency with modern financial technologies and analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated success in managing relationships with private equity sponsors or institutional clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organization levels.
  • Progressive thinker and problem solver, with a strong ability to manage ambiguity / complexity.
  • Work effectively in teams as well as independently across multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines.
  • Ability to embrace change, constructively negotiate constraints, and effectively leverage resources to create exceptional outcomes.
  • Consistently model and inspire high levels of professional demeanor and integrity.
