Description
The Fair and Responsible Banking (FRB) Compliance Section Manager role performs duties to identify and assess risks and corrective actions related to Fair Lending laws, Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) and, Huntington’s values of looking out for our customers.
This role is an individual contributor and does not manage a team.
Specific responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Analytical knowledge of fair lending approaches and technical skills of statistical and data management tools
- Exceptional technical analytical skill set / abilities related to calculating statistical significance (such as Chi-square); report creation utilizing Tableau; advanced Excel capabilities, utilization of Power BI
- Design, understand, assess and/or execute statistical models to evaluate fair lending risk across various credit products (mortgage, auto lending, consumer/small business credit cards).
- Assist in determining methodology, variables, scope, etc. and assist in conducting UDAAP analysis (lending and non-lending products/services), and fair lending analysis including Underwriting and Pricing regression, Redlining, and Peer identification, data extraction (via FFIEC website or other), data mining/analyses, etc.; assessment of initial data results; selection criteria for respective match pair sample size and files for review; and, evaluation for potential unfair discrimination or other fair lending disparities/impact.
- Ability to assess potential areas of concern in Redlining analysis via review of multiple sources of data and consider what may be contributing to root cause(s).
- Assist respective Compliance Section Manager Sr.(s) with annual and periodic updates to various fair banking analysis schedules and project tracking; assessment of respective target dates/progress and prompt escalation to the Manager should any target dates be in jeopardy of being met.
- Proficiency in importing / geocoding data, and entire end-to-end process associated with utilizing related fair lending / CRA software.
- Problem solving to extract and manipulate data, analyze results, and produce written recommendations. Includes identifying issues, deficiencies, inconsistencies, or opportunities for improvement in business processes based on data analysis and risk assessments.
- Assess marketing initiatives, to include evaluation of targeted marketing criteria, associated data and holistic marketing strategies for potential fair banking concerns, unfair discrimination, and fair and equal access to credit.
- Ability to assess lending and non-lending models for potential fair lending and/or UDAAP risks.
- Ability to perform complaint analysis and trending to identify potential fair lending and/or UDAAP risks.
- Subject matter expert with extensive experience and understanding of the spirit and letter of the law related to Regulation B, Fair Housing Act, and UDAAP; along with the practical ability to provide advice and support to maintain compliance with the same.
- Performing comprehensive and robust annual and/or periodic Fair Lending and UDAAP risk assessments, determine respective risk rating(s) with supporting/documented rationale, direction of risk, propose corrective actions, etc.; as well as, identifying activity that could cause potential financial harm to customers.
- Development and periodic fit-for-purpose review of FRB KRIs and other metrics.
- Evaluate various controls/control environments to assess for potential UDAAP or fair lending risks; provide respective advice on improvements to business processes, policies, procedures, and other controls intended to mitigate potential Fair and Responsible Banking risk.
- Maintaining proactive partnerships and communication with senior compliance and business management including periodic updates on potential issues.
- Review, enhance and / or develop enterprise-wide or other ad hoc FRB training.
- Assisting with updates to FRB-related risk policies, procedures, and training as warranted.
- Assisting with preparing information for regulatory examinations and internal audits and, other related management reporting; and, in developing and completing related Management Action Plans.
- Maintaining active knowledge of current and upcoming legislation, regulation, legal opinion, and trends impacting Fair and Responsible Banking; and ability to initiate appropriate recommendations for actions.
- Provide SME and other input on proposed Special Purpose Credit Programs as it relates to Regulation B requirements, criteria, appropriate controls, monitoring, etc.; and assessment/monitoring of potential Business Justifications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or in lieu of degree, four or more years of equivalent work experience.
- 3 or more years of applicable experience in regulatory compliance, legal, or operational risk management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Regulation B, Fair Housing Act and UDAAP subject matter expert as it relates to both the letter and spirit of the laws
- Experience performing data analysis in financial services.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to create various reporting dashboards and draft related analytical report conclusions and assist with Executive Management reporting.
- Statistical modeling and analysis, including hands on experience using SAS, SQL, or other coding background for data analysis and reporting tasks.
- Team player with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to research and address issues timely and flexibly under short deadlines.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and strong Excel skills.
- High detail orientation and ability to think independently, solve problems, and develop solutions.
- Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Banking or regulatory compliance experience.
- Hands on experience using CRA Wiz/Fair Lending Wiz
- Knowledge of and ability to communicate and apply federal compliance laws and regulations.
- Compliance or Risk Management certification.
