Description
The Community Impact Capital (CIC) Business Development Officer for New Market Tax Credits (NMTC) lending and investments will originate and underwrite equity and debt for NMTC investments and loans. They will be responsible for:
- Develops and maintains profitable customer relationships within a targeted market segment by coordinating all sales and service efforts
- With proficiency in NMTC, determines the appropriate risks in prospective and existing customers and transactions so that all relationships are entirely in strategic alignment with Bank risk profiles while delivering maximum CRA and / or economic benefit to the Bank
- Negotiation of LOIs, running proformas, analyzing sponsors and CDEs, and more
- Structures and closes state NMTC investments and guarantees
- Provides oversight, guidance and support for more junior team members and help set strategic direction for the rest of the team
- Assisting President and other senior leaders within CIC in developing a direct investment platform including project management, underwriting, closing, and asset management
- Ensuring sufficient economic returns for equity and debt
- Maintains knowledge of all Bank products and continually develops product expertise
- Analyzes, reviews, prepares, and structures new NMTC financing opportunities with Community Development oriented organizations
- Prepares complex written investment and loan credit packages for review and approval by Senior Credit Executives of the Bank
- Directs and oversees the work of Project Managers and Asset Managers assigned to transactions
- Analyze and review investment and loan opportunities utilizing sound NMTC underwriting fundamentals as well as Community Development Credit policies.
- Works closely with Community Development Investment team working on shared tax credit and non-tax credit financing opportunities
- Represents the Bank at internal and external meetings, have a presence at industry conferences and demonstrate leadership in the field of NMTC
- Works on special team projects as assigned
- Adheres to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory requirements.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years’ experience in a NMTC Relationship Management / Business Development / Credit role in the banking / Financial industry
- 6+ years’ experience in the NMTC sector
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical knowledge of the NMTC program
- Ability to model investments in the financial proforma
- Knowledge of equity and debt products and identification of risk components of loans and investments
- A developed and focus growth mindset with the ability to pivot and be nimble in a growing division
- Deep understanding of NMTC structures with focus on indemnities and credit security
- Some tax credit equity syndications knowledge
- Familiarity with Historic Tax Credits and LIHTC
- Strong presentation skills to senior members of Bank
- Desire to and experience in training junior employees
- High level of emotional intelligence in a division undergoing change
- Natural intellectual curiosity to assist in growing products and services

Compensation Range:
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
