Portfolio/Risk Specialist, Sr - Hybrid Role

Summary:

The Portfolio Risk Specialist role is a senior analyst position within the Credit Administration team (2nd line of defense) responsible for providing credit risk reporting and analytics focused on our Consumer lending products. You will be responsible for providing in-depth risk assessment and risk reporting to evaluate credit risk strategy. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Identifies credit quality issues, emerging potential portfolio risks and/or economic risks through a strong understanding of the portfolio characteristics, demographics, and data analysis 
  • Prepares, evaluates, and reports on the portfolio performance utilizing key management reports and forecasts future performance trends
  • Develops ad hoc emerging risk assessments to identify potential credit related risks within the portfolio. Create engaging presentations for management that analyze portfolio credit risks, opportunities, or future state credit objectives
  • Collaborates with the line of business credit teams and key partners (Segment Risk, Compliance, Legal, etc.) in support and execution of credit risk strategies
  • Drives innovation and improvement of analytical methods and data management procedures
  • Presents findings to committees and management of potential credit and/or economic portfolio risk and recommends strategies to minimize the risk
  • Monitors the portfolio for compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements 
  • Serves as a subject matter expert within credit and may supervise or mentor lesser-experienced Credit Risk professionals
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of related experience. Master’s Degree preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Statistics, Business Management, Economics or similar
  • Strong reporting skills utilizing Microsoft Excel and pivot tables, knowledge of relational database design and fundamentals including familiarity with SQL
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of staff to provide reliable data, reports, and analysis products upon which informed decisions can be made
  • Knowledge of the fundamental principles of SAS, SQL, or other query and analytics software. Comprehensive knowledge and skill of Microsoft Excel data management techniques for analysis and reporting
  • Experience working with large databases for extraction and conversion into useful business information and analytical purposes
  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills, leveraging strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple work-streams and deliverables, as well as coordinate across functional initiatives
