Description
Huntington’s Finance and Strategy organization (first line of defense) is seeking a Segment Risk Manager to join its Segment Risk Team. In this role, the qualified candidate will be charged with providing primary first line of defense risk management oversight and administration for the Data Strategy and Analytics Business Unit Team, as well as assisting the Finance and Strategy Segment Risk team with risk oversight of other Finance & Strategy Business Units primarily related to the management and oversight of key financial data. The position will be responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of a risk management program aligned to Huntington’s Enterprise Risk Management standards. This will include risk identification, control environment design and refinement, conducting root-cause analysis to identify effective and sustainable solutions to gaps in process, and training and change management. The ideal candidate will be strategic, analytical and a strong communicator with a demonstrated background in Data Management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, execution and risk oversight of firmwide data science initiatives including Generative AI policy & implementation, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning model development, and finance data optimization & management.
- Partner with Data Strategy & Analytics and Model Risk Management Leadership to monitor new model requests and development from business lines to ensure alignment with model risk management policies and best practices.
- Identify Risks associated with business processes and activities across the Finance and Strategy Segment. Maintain Risk inventory and partner with business process owners to determine likelihood of occurrence and impact ratings and evidence
- Partner with line of business colleagues to assess, challenge, and facilitate effective control design and testing procedures to effectively and efficiently mitigate identified risks
- Analyze control environment to identify opportunities to improve risk mitigation and operational efficiency through redesign of existing controls through automation or introduction of new controls that will better mitigate risks
- Support the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) segment risk assessment process
- Identify and continuously monitor key risks and related Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure the business is operating within stated Risk Appetite and taking appropriate action to remediate Risk Appetite breaches
- Assist with the management of findings and remediation plans related to failed control tests, breached metrics, policy violations, or other issues; including providing guidance on the development of remediation plans, validating completed remediation plans to ensure sustainability of process changes, and developing comprehensive “Issues Management” reporting
- Collaborate with Data Strategy & Analytics and other Finance team leaders to provide constructive feedback and recommendations intended to enhance risk management practices and support better decision making
- Maintain current working knowledge of developments in industry trends to identify emerging or material risks
- Support the creation of complete and accurate key business process documentation (process mapping); includes responsibilities for identification and analysis of risks and controls within business processes
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Information Technology, Data Science, , Statistics, Finance, Accounting,)
- 3+ years of proven experience in Financial Services, Corporate Risk Management, or Audit with an emphasis on Data Management, Model Risk Management, and/or Generative AI.
- Ability to analyze business processes and think critically about risks associated with those business processes and ways to design, implement, and/or improve controls to mitigate risks
- Ability to multi-task effectively, be a self-starter, deliver to deadlines, handle stress with composure and professionalism, and move work forward with limited direction
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or Master’s degree in quantitative / analytical discipline
- Experience in Data Management disciplines
- Experience working with GRC applications
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely while demonstrating confidence and competence in group meeting situations
- Experience with business process mapping and Microsoft Visio
- Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze situations and risks, determine paths of action, and execute flawlessly
- Ability to collaborate and foster teamwork
Exempt Status: (Yes = not eligible for overtime pay) (No = eligible for overtime pay)

Compensation Range:
$93,000- $189,000 Annual SalaryThe compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
