Summary:
Our Enterprise Data Engineering department is growing, and we're looking for an outstanding Data Engineer Senior Manager to join our team. The Data Engineer Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in building and operationalizing the minimally inclusive data necessary for the enterprise data and analytics initiatives following industry standard practices and tools.
As a Data Engineer Senior Manager, you will be leading the design, development and deployment of Data Engineering solutions to meet enterprise goals and support experimentation and innovation while also serving as a technical leader. This position will also direct the team in test implementation for data quality to ensure Huntington’s data conforms to business rules are accurate, complete, consistent, and uniform. Also, this role will lead a team responsible for building and deploying Data Engineering for some of Huntington’s most valuable and most challenging data-driven projects. Our goal is to be the Best performing Regional Bank in America, and we need data and analytics to meet that goal.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers.
- Sets the strategy and tone for data engineering strategy and vision for the future.
- Leads the architecting, creating and maintaining of data pipelines.
- Work in partnership with data science teams and with business analysts in refining their data requirements for various data and analytics initiatives and their data consumption requirements.
- Work with data governance teams and participate in vetting and promoting content created in the business and by data scientists to the curated data catalog for governed reuse.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members and develops a team to work with all areas of the organization.
- Identifies the roles, skills, and knowledge required to achieve organizational goals, and forecasts new skill requirements.
- Leads the evaluation of tools with key stakeholders across varying management levels to prioritize analytics use cases and requests and maintain the overall book of work.
- Plans and ensures the execution of work, and achievement of team goals.
- Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomes.
- Professional image with the ability to form relationships across functions.
- Works with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are clearly understood and that services meet those needs.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, statistics, related field
- 10+ years of related experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modeling, optimization and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks
- 10+ years of technical leadership and management experience on data-centric products, experience with database programming languages and with advanced analytics tool
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expert experience with data engineering tooling (e.g., Glue, Lamda, Athena, AWS)
- Expert knowledge of BI software tools
- Expert experience with open-source and commercial data science platforms
- Learn and/or Agile methodology
- Demonstrated ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated participation and leadership in the broader technology community
- Ability to foster an inclusive and innovative working environment
- Demonstrated negotiation, influencing, partnership & presentation/communication skills
- Ability to understand business challenges and translate them into value added, data driven solutions
- Strong experience with various Data Management architectures and processes
- Strong experience in working with large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures and integrated datasets
- Demonstrated success in working with large datasets to extract business value
- Strong experience in working with DevOps capabilities like version control, automated builds, testing and release management capabilities
- Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomes
- Professional image with the ability to form relationships across functions
- Ability to train more junior analysts regarding day-to-day activities, as necessary
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
