Description
Role Overview / Summary
- The Sr IT Service Delivery Manager (GCP) will serve as the accountable delivery and platform leader for the strategic Enterprise Event Hub (EEH) - the bank's strategic eventing and data movement platform built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- EEH is a mission-critical, enterprise capability that enables the secure, reliable, and auditable distribution of customer, account, and transaction data in near real time from Systems of Record (SORs) to subscribing consumers. These consumers include digital and operational applications, the operational data store, the enterprise data lake, and the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- By standardizing on a Pub/Sub‑based eventing framework, supported by robust data integrity, reconciliation, audit controls, and file transmission capabilities, EEH significantly reduces direct read pressure on core SORs and provides the scalable foundation required for the bank’s growth, analytics, and regulatory commitments.
- This role combines platform strategy, delivery execution, engineering leadership, and risk ownership and requires close collaboration across application teams, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, risk/compliance, and business stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
- Platform strategy & roadmap: Define, communicate, govern, and implement the multi-year EEH strategy across Bigtable, Dataflow (Apache Beam), Cloud Composer (Airflow), and Python.
- Delivery and Execution Leadership: provide end-to-end accountability for delivery and dependency management, ensuring predictable outcomes and risk management.
- Stakeholder management: Communicate plans, risks, and outcomes to business, technology partners, and risk/compliance stakeholders.
- File Transmissions: Oversee secure enterprise-grade file transmission capabilities (SFTP, GCS) and provide operational support across both streaming and file-based data flows.
- Reliability & SRE: Establish SLOs/SLAs, observability standards, multi-region resiliency, disaster recovery, and incident management best practices.
- Security, risk & compliance: Enforce encryption, tokenization/masking, and data protection best practices.
- SOR offload & business outcomes: Partner with SOR owners to achieve measurable reductions in direct reads.
- Financial transparency & FinOps: Own cloud cost governance and budget stewardship.
- Audit Controls and Regulatory Readiness: Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams and support audits and regulatory exams.
- People leadership: Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing, multi‑disciplinary engineering organization; attract, grow, and retain talent; and foster a culture of accountability, engineering excellence, and operational rigor. Directly manage up to 12 FTE engineers and provide oversight for an offshore team, supporting EEH delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years leading platform or data engineering teams that operate mission-critical services at scale.
- Hands-on depth with Google Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Bigtable, Dataflow/Apache Beam, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Cloud Storage, CI/CD, on (GCP) Google Cloud Platform or on similar cloud technologies (AWS/Azure).
Preferred Qualifications:
- GCP Professional certifications (Cloud Architect, Data Engineer).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder influence.
- Proven expertise building event-driven systems and with data quality controls.
- Strong grounding in SRE/DevOps practices and a security-first mindset.
