Description
The Public Finance Associate supports senior investment bankers in the execution of municipal financing transactions for a diverse set of public sector clients, including state and local governments, education institutions, healthcare systems, and economic development agencies. This role is responsible for managing transaction logistics, conducting financial analysis, and preparing client-facing materials from deal origination through closing. The Associate plays a key role in client engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and the development of high-quality financial and marketing deliverables.
This role will be located in our Chicago, Houston, or New York offices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Transaction Management: Support the structuring, analysis, and execution of bond and note transactions, including new issuances, refinancings, and restructurings; coordinate timelines, deliverables, and closing logistics
- Client Engagement: Serve as a point of contact across internal teams and external clients; partner with Public Finance, Relationship Management, and Capital Markets teams to deliver solutions
- Financial Modeling & Analysis: Develop and maintain financial models, debt profiles, and analytical reports; analyze transaction structures and provide insights to inform client decisions
- Presentation & Marketing Materials: Prepare pitch books, offering memoranda, and client presentations tailored to financing opportunities and market conditions
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Compliance, Knowledge Center, and Proposal teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across materials and processes
- Industry Research & Insights: Conduct market, sector, and client research; monitor trends and support business development efforts
- Execution Support: Assist with documentation, scheduling, and coordination throughout the transaction lifecycle; support senior bankers on multiple concurrent deals
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all materials and processes adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies
- Strategic & Team Support: Contribute to planning discussions, process improvements, and broader team initiatives; perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in public finance, investment banking, capital markets, or corporate finance
- FINRA SIE, Series 52 and 63
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Prior experience supporting municipal financing transactions or public sector clients
- Exposure to debt capital markets, fixed income products, or structured finance
- Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis and credit fundamentals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Compensation Range:
$110,000.00 - $140,000.00 Annual SalaryThe compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
