Job Summary
Huntington National Bank is seeking Director level Relationship Banker to originate and execute project financing, structured financing, and debt advisory within the project finance and infrastructure segment.
Strategic objective of the division
Huntington National Bank (“HNB”) is expanding its team of specialized project finance bankers. The Project Finance and Infrastructure (“PFI”) line of business is a crucial new growth strategy for Huntington Bank’s Structure Finance group and will offer the Banker the opportunity to play a leading role in building and evolving this growth business.
In this regard, knowledge leadership in this sector, building new client relationships and client income maximization will be a primary focus and responsibility of the Senior Coverage Banker (the “Banker”) in achieving his/her commercial objectives. The Banker is responsible for his/her own commercial objectives which are centered on revenue delivery, cost management and loss minimization. The Banker operates in a dynamic and demanding environment in which proactivity, flexibility and discipline is required across all areas, from pitching through structuring and execution, to follow up and monitoring.
Objectives of the role
As a Director, you’ll be tasked with leading project finance debt financing across various sectors such as power, renewable energy, energy related assets, midstream and infrastructure including Public Private Partnership (“PPP” or “P3”). The Banker will be responsible for originating and executing project finance transactions, as well as pitching, deal negotiation, financial modeling, liaising with third party counsel and advisors, debt structuring, equity analysis and investor appraisal, and documentation execution. The Banker will act as lead structuring/execution deal captain for tailored project finance transactions for the PFI business line.
Key responsibilities
- Originating, structuring and executing transactions in the role of deal captain. The Banker is expected to achieve the projected core lending revenues, build a portfolio of sponsor/developer clients and play a leading role in supporting the cross sell targets.
- Account Management: relationship account planning; prospecting; client networking; pipeline management
- Execution and Portfolio Management: documentation negotiation, deal closing coordination; exercising portfolio control; maintaining dialogue with portfolio manager, senior risk officer and various credit departments; active portfolio management/financial resource planning
- Give priority to the long-term interests of your customers and Huntington.
- Displaying adequate exemplary behavior and fulfilling an exemplary position concerning the propagation of core values and basic principles of focus on customers’ interests first.
- Act responsibly with regard to identified risks and actively discuss these both within and outside the own domain.

- Stimulate and assure a strong risk culture, awareness of risks and everyone’s contribution to risk management and protecting Huntington’s reputation.
- Ensuring the creation of a culture and circumstances in order to function properly as a unit; honesty and ethical standards and values in the control and treatment of employees and creating a feedback culture.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field
- 10+ years of client coverage experience in the project finance sector, including selling, originating and executing traditional lending products, as well as cross selling more complex capital markets products.
- Strong understanding of power, renewable, midstream and infrastructure industry drivers, market dynamics, and industry regulations
- Deep client network in the power, energy and infrastructure sector and established relationships with law firms, engineering firms and other businesses supporting the industry
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across functional areas to resolve complex issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills which foster teamwork, trust, creativity/innovation and accountability.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and insightfully.

- CFA or MBA or equivalent degree

Compensation Range:
$102,000 - $217,000 Annual SalaryThe compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
