Summary:
The Agile Coach Senior is an experienced Agilist and leader responsible for working collaboratively with the broader Value Management Office (VMO) team and senior leadership to foster adoption and maturation of agile practices and principles while embedding agile values and mindsets. The Agile Coach Sr is additionally responsible for building credibility with and becoming trusted advisors to the colleagues, teams, managers, and senior leadership they support while providing consultative mentorship, guidance, and training based upon an assessment of each entity’s needs. Colleagues in this role will also manage and guide other Agile Coaches within their organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coaching, developing and mentoring team members.
- Develops guidance and tools aiding in the growth and maturation of Agile Coaches.
- Completes comprehensive assessments providing key observations, strengths, challenges with recommended next steps, and aids in the establishment of Value Streams as part of the organizational Agile Transformations.
- Reviews Agile Coaching deliverables and provides feedback to Agile Coaches to ensure content aligns with VMO messaging.
- Creates and executes comprehensive Coaching Engagements outlining rationale, benefits, assumptions, and approach.
- Coaches and guides senior leadership, Product Owners, managers, and Agile teams to understand and shift to an Agile mindset.
- Aids in maturing Agile capabilities and use of Agile principles and frameworks across teams.
- Provides guidance on the appropriate use of metrics and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Collaboratively supports and facilitates opportunities for sharing best practices, challenges, and innovative thinking across the organization.
- Develops supporting documentation and training content to support understanding of Agile a Huntington.
- Develops expertise in tools used at Huntington to assist teams mature their usage in an Agile environment.
- Contributes to the development of VMO guidance, policies, and standards surrounding product and project delivery.
- Uses deep understanding of VMO guidance, policies, and standards surrounding product and project delivery to guide and coach teams to ensure success and compliance where needed.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 10 + years’ experience working in an Agile environment as a Scrum Master or Product Owner and including 5 or more years working as an Agile Coach.
- Must have successfully led an agile transformation at a large enterprise organization. Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Ideal candidate will have the proven ability to influence multiple levels of the organization without positional authority.
- Must have directly managed teams of coaches
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12 + years’ experience leading in an Agile environment , and including 5 or more years leading as an Agile Coach.
- Deep Agile expertise; with a strong understanding of servant leadership and the Agile Manifesto’s values and principles, with the ability to tailor agile practices and guidance based upon context and agile maturity of the audience to create meaningful coaching experiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; must excel at team building, negotiation, critical thinking, and problem resolution.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to guide individuals, teams, and midline managers to adopting agility.
- Highly organized with the ability to work under critical time constraints. Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Thorough knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft Office programs, and the ability to quickly learn new programs/systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, as well as active listening skills.
- Experience with Kanban
- Experience working with Agile Place and Azure Devops
- Experience working as an Agile Coach in the financial industry
