Summary:

The Segment Risk Manager, Sr. – Commercial Digital & AI Risk is a First Line Risk position responsible for driving disciplined execution of risk management practices across the Commercial Bank and in alignment with Huntington’s risk appetite. This role will have responsibility, in partnership with the Commercial Digital Strategy Executive and the Commercial Data and Insights team, for driving and overseeing risk oversight of Commercial owned digital applications and AI Risk including identifying ways to enhance process automation capabilities across the Commercial Bank.

This role partners closely with Commercial Digital Strategy, Commercial Data and Insights, Technology, and Second Line Risk to identify, monitor, measure, mitigate, and report operational risk exposures associated with digital applications and AI-driven automation. This role plays a key role in establishing strong digital and automation risk governance, vulnerability monitoring, controls, and risk culture across the Commercial Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead first-line risk oversight for Commercial owned digital applications, with emphasis on operational risk, vulnerability monitoring, and control execution to support safe and sound delivery of digital capabilities across a large, complex commercial bank environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for new, modified, or expanded digital applications, ensuring implementation readiness, and ensuring risk-adjusted outcomes and downstream impacts are understood before deployment.
  • Monitor operational risk indicators for Commercial digital applications and automation solutions, including vulnerability findings, incidents, control breaks, and change-related risks, and escalate concerns through appropriate governance forums.
  • Partner with Technology, Information Security, and Commercial Digital Strategy to ensure vulnerabilities affecting Commercial owned digital applications are identified, tracked, and remediated in alignment with policy and risk appetite.
  • Assess the operational risk implications of digital application changes, leveraging AI to enhance process automation expansion across the Commercial Bank.
  • Act as a trusted risk advisor to Commercial Bank leadership by integrating digital and automation risk considerations into strategic planning, product design, and growth initiatives.
  • Evaluate risk impacts of new digital capabilities, automation solutions on existing processes, controls, and client experience.
  • Partner with Second Line of Defense (2LOD) partners, including Model Risk Management, Technology Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, and Privacy, to ensure alignment with policy, standards, and regulatory expectations for digital applications and AI/automation.
  • Lead and oversee digital and automation-related Segment Risk activities for the Commercial Bank, including risk identification, inherent and residual risk assessment, control design and effectiveness evaluation, and issue management.
  • Identify emerging risks driven by digital application changes, evolving threat landscapes, and escalate as appropriate.
  • Ensure findings from Audit, Regulatory Exams, and Self-Identified Issues related to Commercial digital applications are effectively remediated and validated.
  • Deliver timely, concise digital and automation risk reporting and escalation to Commercial leadership, Segment Risk Leadership, and senior management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of experience in banking risk management, operational risk, technology risk, or commercial banking along with experience with digital banking platforms (e.g., Business Online or similar commercial digital applications).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with agentic AI concepts and governance.
  • Familiarity with RPA/process automation tools and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with RCSA frameworks, risk appetite alignment, and issue management.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex risk topics clearly to senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Strong partnership, influencing, and leadership skills.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification.
