Enterprise Strategy Director

Summary:

The Enterprise Strategy Director, in close partnership with the Head of Enterprise Strategy, is responsible for leading and overseeing the development, execution, and monitoring of strategic initiatives that drive long-term business growth and competitive advantage.  This role involves working closely with senior leadership to define and implement strategic goals, ensuring alignment with organizational vision and objectives.  Additionally, this leader will partner with external consultants and industry experts as needed for the purposes of strategic analysis and development. The leader should be comfortable leading projects focused on both growth and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a lead on internal strategic consulting engagements, providing both day-to-day project management, and thought leadership to shape strategies across the enterprise
  • Collaborate with senior executives to define strategic priorities and goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research, competitive analysis, and internal assessments to inform strategic decisions. 
  • Actively monitor the entire financial services industry with a focus on specific areas such as emerging technology, industry trends, new business models, innovation, disruption, FinTech’s and strategic partnerships, as well as key bank verticals such as payments, deposits, lending, and wealth.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and present strategic plans, progress reports, and performance analyses to senior leadership
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of strategic planning efforts.
  • Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide strategic guidance and leadership to foster alignment and synergy across departments.
  • Lead and develop a strong internal team of analytical, strategic consultants, fostering a collaborative results-oriented environment within the strategic planning team.
  • Maintain Huntington’s strong risk culture through early identification, communication, and proactive management and mitigation of financial risks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of business experience in strategic planning, management consulting, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing high performing teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Progressive experience in strategic management consulting having achieved the role of engagement or project manager at a minimum.
  • Demonstrates thought leadership with a proven record of success in either professional consulting services or corporate roles helping companies develop and evaluate corporate and business segment strategies that reflect market, competitive, and other external influences.
  • Proven creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively work in a matrixed organization with colleagues across various reporting structures.
  • Excellent influencing and communication (both oral and written) skills, with the ability to successfully interact with and relate complex technical information to multiples audiences in business terms.
  • Strong research skills and a desire to expand knowledge.
  • Ability to synthesize analysis and research into practical strategic insights and recommendations (demonstrating critical thinking and assessment).
  • Ability to manage multiple individuals and complex engagements.
  • Management experience with strong coaching and mentoring skills to lead teams within a culture of trust and inclusivity.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to coordinate multiple projects, and flexible at adjusting assigned priorities when needed.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Compensation Range:

$125000-$255000 Annual Salary

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.  Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.  In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
