CRE Regional Credit Officer

Summary:

Huntington Bank is seeking a Credit Administration Manager with background in real estate finance to work with the Commercial Real Estate industries group.  This candidate will be a Regional Credit Officer (RCO) covering the bank’s CRE Regional lending platform. The position requires extensive experience covering all types of commercial real estate transactions. The Credit Administration Officer will oversee the Credit submissions and will work in concert with the Business Line in deepening and extending new products and services to current and existing clients. It is anticipated that the Credit Administration Officer will train new officers and be offered growth and leadership opportunities. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Being a strategic partner with the line of business.
  • Risk assessment activities and the approval of new loan production and modifications to existing loans.
  • With respect to credit approvals, providing a credible and informed challenge on each opportunity in adjudicating transactions.
  • Evaluating annual reviews to assess current and future transaction risks, affirming risk ratings and confirm action plans.
  • Ensure that loans are underwritten and approved adhering to the Bank’s Policies and Procedures, along with principles of safe and sound banking practices and within regulatory guidelines.
  • Establishes, implements and manages administrative and review systems and procedures to protect the quality and profitability of the loan portfolio.
  • Manage credit structuring and negotiation strategy discussions with officer/business unit.
  • Analyze, assess and approve/disapprove credit request within approval limits and elevating to the appropriate approval level when required.
  • Identify potential problem credits and work with the bank’s Financial Recovery Group specialist to assist with the restructure of credits to minimize risk for loss.
  • Advise staff, officers and/or business units on the company's overall lending policies.
  • Act as a thought leader in the development of lending products and services.
  • Travel to clients to evaluate business strengths and weaknesses to protect the bank and to permit for thoughtful and profitable opportunities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years’ experience in Commercial Real Estate banking including credit and lending authority

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of all commercial real estate property types.
  • Knowledge of debt products and identification of risk components of loans.
  • Experience underwriting various loan structures including but not limited to secured construction,, acquisition, or bridge term loans, for individual properties or portfolios.
  • Strong working knowledge of the various property types and their respective unique operating and risk profiles
  • Deep understanding of legal documentation around CRE financings including partnership agreements, credit agreements, guarantees and security instruments.
  • Prior direct management experience
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Willingness to and experience in training junior employees
  • Natural intellectual curiosity to assist in growing products and services

Compensation Range:

$125,000-$255,000 Annual Salary

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.  Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.  In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
